Il KR-5 Super fa parte di una serie di semplici reflex con esposizione manuale per Pellicole da 35 mm di Ricoh, tutte compatibili con obiettivi con attacco K. Altri includono il Ricoh KR-5, CR-5, ecc. (Notare il KR-5 Super II è una fotocamera significativamente diversa effettivamente costruita da Cosina.)
Sebbene essenzialmente simile al KR-5 originale, il "Super" del 1982 offre alcuni miglioramenti, tra cui più veloce f Opzioni obiettivo standard /1.7 e f/2.0. Sebbene sia ancora limitato a 1/8 di secondo come velocità dell'otturatore più lenta (oltre a B), la velocità massima aumenta a 1/1000 e la velocità di sincronizzazione flash ora è 1/125 sec.
Anche se non esiste ancora un terminale PC per collegare un flash esterno, la slitta a contatto caldo ha un contatto aggiuntivo che consente Unità flash Ricoh per illuminare un LED pronto per il flash sotto l'oculare del mirino.
