Descrizione

Canon ha introdotto l'AE-1 nell'aprile del 1976 fino alla fine del 1984, l'AE-1 è stata una fotocamera di grande successo in tutto il mondo. Quando uscì l'AE-1, i modelli con misurazione manuale TTL (inclusi Canon FTb e FTb-N) erano ancora il mainstream nel mercato delle reflex 35 mm.

Utilizzando un microprocessore, Canon è riuscita a semplificare la progettazione e, utilizzando un processo di produzione altamente automatizzato, è riuscita a mantenere bassi i costi. Il risultato è stata una delle prime fotocamere con esposizione automatica TTL economiche ad arrivare sul mercato. Dopo la sua introduzione nel 1976, la Canon AE-1 è diventata rapidamente una fotocamera molto popolare in tutto il mondo. L'AE-1 è stato sostituito pochi anni dopo dal Programma AE-1.
