Una Praktica era una cámara simple y económica, que originalmente usaba una montura de tornillo única de 40 mm para sus lentes intercambiables. La reestructuración empresarial fue el motivo de la integración de la empresa Zeiss Ikon en KW. A partir de ese momento , las cámaras Praktica se equiparon con la montura de lente de tornillo de 42 mm, un poco más grande , convirtiéndose en un estándar internacional. Las lentes con montura de tornillo para las cámaras Pentax contemporáneas se llamaron 'Takumar'. El nombre se cambió a ' Pentax ' cuando introdujo su propia montura de bayoneta.
La Praktica es una SLR de Alemania Oriental fabricada por Pentacon , que utiliza la montura de tornillo de 42 mm .
