La primera cámara SLR de 35 mm con enfoque automático de Canon. El sistema AF utiliza una matriz CCD lineal para la detección de contraste de imagen TTL. El modo de toma de fotografías se puede seleccionar con los pictogramas en el panel LCD externo. Se introdujo en abril de 1985 y se suspendió en junio de 1986 y forma parte de la serie T de cámaras con montura FD. No es compatible con el sistema EOS posterior de Canon y sus lentes con montura EF de enfoque automático.
