La Pentax P30 (P3 US) altrove, era una pellicola 35mm SLR rilasciata da Pentax nel 1985. Il corpo in plastica era un punto di partenza del lignaggio che ha prodotto la ME e la SuperA; con una fotocamera più amatoriale.
La serie P prevedeva il controllo dell'esposizione completamente programmato (oltre alla modalità manuale), l'impostazione della velocità della pellicola con codice DX (predefinita a 100 se il codice non può essere letto), il blocco dell'esposizione e l'anteprima della profondità di campo. Tutti tranne il P3/P30 offrivano anche la modalità Av, mentre il P5/P50 offriva una compensazione dell'esposizione di ±3 EV.
Utilizza la baionetta con innesto KA per trasmettere informazioni sull'apertura e dispone della modalità P (Av quando si utilizzano obiettivi della serie M o K) e può utilizzare qualsiasi obiettivo con messa a fuoco manuale fino alla serie FA.
