Die 1990 erschienene Contax T2 war die zweite der Contax T-Serie von High-End-Kompaktfilmkameras, die auf den professionellen und Luxus-Verbrauchermarkt ausgerichtet war. Der Contax T2 wurde in den Ausführungen Champagnersilber, Schwarz und Gold angeboten.

Die Contax T2 war bekannt für ihr multivergütetes Carl Zeiss T* Sonnar f/2.8 38 mm Objektiv mit 5 Elementen in 4 Gruppen und benutzerfreundlichen Bedienelementen. Obwohl die Contax T2 eine vollständige Automatisierung bot, einschließlich Autofokus und Programm-AE, war sie eine der am einfachsten vom Benutzer steuerbaren Kameras ihrer Zeit, mit Blendenprioritäts-AE-Auswahl auf einem Einstellrad am einziehbaren Objektivkörper und manuellem Fokus auf einem Daumenrad . Die Belichtungskorrektur von +/-2 EV in 1/2 EV-Schritten wird über ein Einstellrad oben links gesteuert und die EV-Korrektur wird in einem kleinen Fenster angezeigt. Verschlusszeit und Bestätigung der Fokussperre werden im Sucher angezeigt.
